Pincus Taft was a founder of clinical endocrinology in Melbourne and in Australia. He was an inspiration and role model for many young medical students to take up endocrinology. He had a rare ability to accord respect to all his colleagues, from interns and JRMOs through to contemporaries, while still being able to instruct or guide them according to an uncompromisingly high standard. He was never afraid to openly acknowledge someone else's ideas if he thought they were better than his own.
